STYLE • Day-Dreaming up Sofia Coppola’s Summer Wardrobe

We have a huge girl crush on Sofia Coppola. She’s got an effortlessly sexy style and we admire her attention to detail!

We’ve picked some high, some low, some new and some old. It’s our day dream of what she might pack in her bag for a summer holiday in Italy.

ON ORDER • Ed Ruscha

We’re looking to Mr. Ruscha for inspiration as we dive into working on the Spring 2013 collections here at Geren Ford . He is a visionary. I was lucky enough to have the the chance to see him speak at The Soho House here in Los Angeles a few months ago. It was inspirational to hear him talk about his artistic journey in such a personal, accessible and honest way. The offices at Geren Ford are currently  ordering up as much of his work as we can get our hands on. To get an on-line version of what I was lucky enough to experience watch the wonderful segment with Stella McCartney  recorded some time ago for Iconoclasts which is posted below.  If only we could all aspire to have as much insight and passion as Ed does we would have a better world!

CRAFT • The most amazing wood bowls and objects in Los Angeles

John C. Talbot is a bit of an addiction for me. I’ve been collecting his wares for a few years now. He works with the wood from trees fallen in the urban jungle. He makes the most wonderful precious but useable bowls, vessels and cutting boards among other things. He’s at the Hollywood Farmers Market most Sundays and at Geren Ford we are chipping away at him to let us host his genius at the ANNEX. Check out his body of work on his site John C. Talbot  his works are an investment but they are very very very worth it!

STYLE • Oscar and Andre do Spain

Oscar De La Renta and Andre Leon Talley  talk about the influence of Spanish dress on fashion. I can’t wait to get myself back to NYC and visit the Queen Sophia Spanish Institute, a great excuse to get my butt uptown while I am in the city for most of February.  These two seem like genuine friends they’re charming and make me happy to be in fashion!
