VOYAGE • Zambia’s most precious resource

One highlight of the safari I just had the pleasure of joining, was that we had the chance to go to a local school sponsored by our hosts and guides The Bushcamp Company. The genius team at Cool Hunting had worked with the team there to be able to donate a classroom full of desks with a portion of the proceeds from our journey. We also had a visit with the students.

We began calling the whole trip “safari, SURPRISE” because at every turn there was a new and more wonderful experience to be had, beverage to be drank, or once in a lifetime moment to be taken in. The highlight of “safari, SURPRISE” for me was the magical effect the kids at this one school in a small town in the middle of Zambia had on the whole group of us that were traveling.

They were some of the most engaged, ambitious, and appreciative group of young people that I have ever encountered. They don’t seem to take anything for granted, they have a perspective on life that is beyond their age and they have a joy and wonder that means that anything is possible.

The students appreciate the opportunity to get an education. They want to be doctors, and scientists and engineers. Zambia has a brighter future with these amazing students a part of it. They need so much, and have so much to give. I hope that our paths cross again soon.
